Rotary Club of Des Moines Cooks Up Support for the Des Moines Food Bank

Rotarians Brain Snure, Glenn Bishop, Dave Markwell and Jim Polhamus

The Des Moines Farmers Market closed its season Saturday with its annual Chili Cook-Off fundraiser, and despite drizzly skies the Rotary Club of Des Moines was there cooking up a mess of chili!  Four teams consisting of club members fought hard for the title of First Place, Second Place, Third Place and the People’s Choice Award, but alas no trophies  were awarded the teams.  Even the renown Chili Pepper Mamas (the Rotary Women’s team) who took first place last year were denied!  We will be back next year!

Over 400 people attended the cook-off .  Proceeds from the event help sustain the Farmers Market and benefit the Des Moines Area Food Bank. Photos courtesy of Scott Schaefer of the Waterland Blog and Lisa Meinecke.
